  it'd be interesting to see what's happened to friends, associates and kingdom hall buddies since leaving the organisation.. .

  a friend - someone you have a personal friendship with.

  an associate - someone you hang out with in groups but have no personal relationship with.

  i have been lurking on this site for nearly a year now and finally feel comfortable enough to begin posting.

  so i thought a little introduction would be appropriate.

  my whole family, except for my two sisters, are jw's.

  Field Service Spies

  please excuse my ignorance.

  enquiring minds just want to know.. when you visit someone in field service do you give a report with information about that person or household?.

  is there a pattern of requirements that you must fill out, like number in household, spoke to male or female, something about their attitude?.

  Ditto what Passwordprotected said. They had to get rid of those forms in Ireland also. For legal reasons - data protection act.

  Since that time, info on interested parties was written on normal note paper or whatever the publisher had to hand. If you, as a jw, are going to pass those forms onto anyone else (say you think a different publisher would be better suited or lives nearer to the intereted person) there are 3 things that you can't write on it. As far as I remember they were the person's gender, ethnicity and religion. Passing on those pieces of paper to anyone is called "processing data" and those details cannot be passed on without the person's consent.

  Of course very few non-jws know about this and would probably not like it much to know that potenitally anything they say or anything the jw observes can be written down and kept or passed on.

  he is not going to the meetings.

  i get to talk to him occasionally.

  He thinks the org is ok as it goes by the bible.

  No not the Bible, their bible, ie NWT. Maybe if you could get him to see how they've blatantly chopped and changed the Bible to suit their teaching and you might get some where with him. Show him how they took out the [] around the inserted word "other" at Col 1:15-20 and also changed other things (see the youtube clip for more ideas). That might change his tune esp when couple with the scriptures about the woe on anyone who adds to or takes from the Scriptures.

  did you still want it to be the truth?.

  i was sick for 3 or 4 days after i found out it isn't the truth.. .

  then i got really pissed and started telling other jw's.. .

  I was distraught when I realised it wasn't true. I cried and cried and had a hundred questions that I suddenly didn't know the answer to. The UN stuff was first to upset me. My husband had ordered CoC and initially I didn't even want the book in the house! But then I picked it up and read it before my husband could get his hands on it! LOL

  That was it - no going back once I got my head around the fact that Ray was telling the truth and wasn't "drawing people after himself" like we were always warned apostates do. Then I found this place and realised the extent of the poison and that was the final nail in the coffin. Only the stupid or those who are "pot-committed" to the jws can know half this stuff and not run screaming from the KH.

  This doesn't sound right to me either. Recently my "in" mother asked an elder in her cong about it and he said that the cong owns the hall and it can't be sold etc without passing a resolution thru the cong.
